Unfortunately, all locks can be cut with the right tools and enough time. The time required depends on factors such as the power of the angle grinder used, the cutting discs, and the skill of the user.

During our own testing and independent testing, we found that the LITELOK X1 PLUS is at least 5 times more resistant and the LITELOK X3 is at least 20 times more resistant to angle-grinder attacks than current leading D‑locks. The X3 also requires multiple cutting discs and batteries to make a successful cut.

This significantly increases the time, effort and noise involved, acting as a strong deterrent—particularly in higher‑risk environments.

Both locks use patented Barronium® armour and are designed to resist modern theft methods, but they are built for different security demands.

• LITELOK X1 PLUS offers extended internal reach, making it ideal for larger frames, thicker bike stands, awkward street furniture, or locking multiple bikes together. It delivers strong angle-grinder resistance in a lighter, more flexible format.
  
• LITELOK X3 is LITELOK’s flagship lock, engineered for maximum resistance in higher‑risk environments. In addition to a thicker and heavier construction, the X3 features an ABLOY® SENTRY lock cylinder, one of the most pick‑resistant mechanical lock cylinders available, significantly increasing resistance to picking and manipulation attacks.
  

In short, the X1 PLUS provides reach and versatility, while the X3 delivers the highest possible level of physical and cylinder security.

Use the X3 as your primary lock when securing the bike frame to fixed objects in higher‑risk locations. The X1 PLUS complements this by adding extended reach and flexibility for secondary locking points, thicker stands, or daisy‑chaining around larger or awkward street furniture.

Together, the two locks allow you to double-lock your bike, daisy‑chain when needed and adapt to a wide range of real‑world parking scenarios common in busy urban environments.

• LITELOK X1 PLUS has an extended internal locking space of approximately 101 × 255 mm / 3.97 × 10", providing significantly more reach for demanding locking situations.
• LITELOK X3 has an internal locking space of approximately 99 × 195 mm / 3.89 × 7.67", combined with a much thicker, heavier, and more reinforced construction.

While the X1 PLUS offers greater reach, the X3 delivers greater overall mass, thickness, and resistance, making it the stronger primary lock in high‑risk environments.

Yes. Both the LITELOK X1 PLUS and LITELOK X3 can be attached to your bike, using lock‑specific Tactical Mounts.

• LITELOK X1 PLUS is compatible with the X1 Tactical Mount (sold separately), allowing secure frame mounting for everyday riding.
• LITELOK X3 is compatible with the X3 Tactical Mount (sold separately). This heavy‑duty mount is purpose-built for LITELOK’s flagship lock and holds the X3 securely on the bike frame, even on rough terrain.

Please note that Tactical Mounts are model‑specific and not interchangeable. All mounts and carrying accessories are sold separately unless otherwise stated.

Both the LITELOK X1 PLUS and X3 are independently tested and certified Sold Secure Bicycle Diamond and Powered Cycle Diamond, as well as ART4, making this bundle suitable for bikes, e-bikes and motorcycles where a strong physical and visual deterrent is essential.

Yes. Both the LITELOK X1 PLUS and LITELOK X3 have been independently tested and certified by recognised security testing bodies, including Sold Secure and ART.

• Both locks achieve Sold Secure Bicycle Diamond and Powered Cycle Diamond, the highest levels available under the Sold Secure rating system.
• Both are also certified ART4, demonstrating resistance against sustained, professional‑grade attack methods.

Sold Secure testing is owned and administered by the Master Locksmiths Association, with evaluation carried out in purpose-built laboratories in the UK. These certifications confirm that both locks meet stringent standards for real‑world security performance in high‑risk environments.

The LITELOK X‑range is built with Barronium®, a patented anti-angle-grinder composite material that is permanently fused as armour to provide exceptional cut resistance. The Barronium® layer is specifically engineered to repel and degrade angle-grinder cutting discs, significantly slowing modern theft attacks.

The X‑range uses a three-layer construction:

• A fine-grain, hardened high‑tensile steel core, providing strength against twisting, leverage, and multiple tool attacks
• Patented Barronium® composite armour, permanently fused to the steel core to resist angle-grinder cutting discs
• A plant‑based eco-rubber outer layer, soft to the touch to help protect your bike frame from damage

Both the X1 PLUS and X3 use this proven construction, but the LITELOK X3 incorporates additional Barronium® material, a thicker overall profile, and structural reinforcement, making it LITELOK’s most secure and most resistant lock in the range.

Our founder and CEO, Professor Neil Barron, supported by Innovate UK, worked closely with some of the world’s leading material scientists for over 5 years to develop Barronium®, our ground breaking angle grinder resistant technology.

There is no physical or technical difference between the Bike and Moto versions of LITELOK X‑range locks — including the X1 PLUS and X3. They are exactly the same locks, using the same materials, construction, and security technologies.

The Bike and Moto naming is used solely to help riders understand how a lock can be applied across different use cases, such as bicycles, e-bikes and motorcycles. The lock itself remains unchanged, only the intended application.

Warranty is applied individually to each lock included in the bundle:

• LITELOK X1 PLUS is covered by a 3‑year warranty
• LITELOK X3 is covered by a 7‑year warranty

Both warranties cover mechanical or operational faults arising from normal use. Cosmetic wear and tear is not covered. We recommend registering your locks and keys so replacement keys can be ordered if required.
