On the 21st of August, between 5-7pm, Marc locked his £4,000 Canyon bike in the heart of Manchester’s Exchange Square. Known as one of the busiest areas in the city, Exchange Square is filled with commuters, shoppers, and tourists throughout the day “very busy lots of foot traffic,” Marc recalls.
Confident in his LITELOK X1, Marc secured his bike to “a normal u shaped metal bike mount.”
Not long after heading to a pub to meet a friend, Marc’s LITELOK X1 was put to the ultimate test.
“I had locked my bike up 1 min from the pub I was meeting a friend at. After an hr or so I came back and there was a group of people who all ran over to tell me a group of bike thieves had tried to angle grind my bike lock but had given up and walked off...”
The attempted theft had gone on for around 20 minutes, but the thieves were no match for the LITELOK X1.
“Your lock saves my bacon. It’s an expensive bike and I would have been devastated if it had been taken. Apparently, they were there for 20mins and couldn’t get through it.”
Thanks to the X1, Marc’s bike was still right where he left it, untouched despite a determined attack.
We always recommend using multiple layers of security, especially in busy urban areas. A layered locking system makes it far more difficult for thieves, forcing them to spend more time and use more tools, increasing the chances of drawing attention and getting caught.
