On the afternoon of June 17th, around 5 PM, an attempted theft took place in East London targeting a high-end bike valued at approximately £12,000. Sam had invested in multiple security measures, with the LITELOK X3 lock serving as the primary line of defence.

That evening, four individuals on two mopeds were spotted scouting bikes around the area. After removing the cover from this particular bike, they decided it was worth targeting.

"4 men on 2 mopeds were apparently scouting bikes around my building and decided they liked mine the most (they took the cover off). They then went at it with an angle grinder (I assume battery operated)." 

Bike thieves often operate in coordinated groups, with each member playing a specific role — from handling the tools to acting as lookouts or staying on standby for a quick getaway.

"I don't know how long they were at it but apparently enough to make a smell. A resident saw them and scared them off. They came back at 2am but looks like they decided they couldn't get through it. They only seemed to get through the rubber on the X3 and haven't really damaged the lock body."
