LITELOK Launches Interactive Global Bike Theft Map to Highlight Risk Hotspots
We have introduced a new live, interactive map designed to visualise bicycle and motorcycle theft statistics from around the world. The tool aims to raise global awareness of theft trends and highlight areas where riders may face higher risk.
Now available on our LITELOK website, the feature allows cyclists, motorcyclists, and scooter users to explore continuously updated data showing where theft incidents are being reported. By presenting this information in a clear, geographic format, the map is intended to help riders better understand patterns of theft activity and encourage more informed decision-making around security and prevention.
The dataset behind the map combines multiple sources, including attempted theft reports submitted by LITELOK customers, official government crime statistics, and insights gathered through community engagement. Together, these inputs create a broader picture of how and where theft activity is occurring, helping identify emerging hotspots and targeted locations.
“We built this to help riders stay informed about bike theft activity and locations; and to share it around. If an area has no reported hotspot or story on the map, it should not be assumed to be free from risk. Our mission is for riders to Worry Less and Ride More." - Prof. Neil Barron, LITELOK Founder & CEO
Building on the bike theft surveys we conducted in previous years, we have connected this Tested on Thieves research to our new map-based data to create a more comprehensive view of theft patterns. By linking these insights together, we aim to better support riders worldwide with clearer, more actionable understanding of bike theft trends.
Ultimately, the goal goes beyond improving physical security products. Our approach focuses on keeping riders informed, increasing awareness of theft trends, and supporting better everyday decisions that help protect bikes, motorcycles, and scooters worldwide.
