Celebrating Whitchurch Cycle Club: Supporting the Next Generation of Riders

Cycling is about so much more than getting from A to B. It’s about confidence, independence, friendships, and discovering what’s possible on two wheels.

That’s the vision behind Whitchurch Cycle Club, an award-winning, inclusive social cycling club dedicated to helping young people experience the joy and freedom that cycling can bring. Supporting riders aged 3 to 18 of all abilities and confidence levels, the club creates a welcoming environment where young cyclists can learn new skills, challenge themselves, and grow in confidence.

We first heard about Whitchurch Cycle Club’s exciting plans when we met Matthew, one of the club’s coaches, at Battle on the Beach. While at the event, Matthew shared more about the club’s fundraising campaign and the vision behind creating a new pump trail and skills loop at Coryton Primary School, Cardiff, a project designed to give young riders a dedicated space to develop their skills and enjoy cycling.

Creating a space to ride, learn and grow

Whitchurch Cycle Club is working to create a new pump trail and skills loop that will provide a safe, inclusive cycling facility for children, club members, and the wider community.

The project will help riders of all abilities build confidence, from those taking their first steps on two wheels through to young cyclists looking to develop their off-road skills. By creating a dedicated space for learning and progression, the trail will encourage more children to get active, enjoy cycling, and experience the freedom that comes with riding.

At the heart of the project is the club’s mission to help young people grow, not just as cyclists, but as individuals. Through the support of volunteers and the wider cycling community, Whitchurch Cycle Club continues to provide an environment where everyone feels welcome.

Supporting the fundraising effort

To help raise funds for the pump trail and skills loop, Whitchurch Cycle Club hosted a raffle to bring the community together and support the campaign.

As part of the raffle prizes, LITELOK donated a LITELOK GO lock to help support the fundraising efforts and contribute towards this fantastic community project.
