Motorcycle theft can happen in a matter of minutes, but the right security can make all the difference. Emma recently got in touch to share her experience after thieves targeted her Yamaha XJ6 in Rotherham. Valued between £2,500 and £5,000, the bike became the focus of a determined theft attempt, but thanks to the LITELOK X3, the criminals left empty-handed.
Emma had secured her motorcycle using a LITELOK X3, positioning it through the wheel spoke and forks. Despite this, thieves attempted to steal the bike by physically moving it to a quieter location where they could work without attracting attention.
As Emma explained:
“Bike secured with Litelok X3 through wheel spoke and forks. Thieves had to carry front end of bike to take it to a more secluded location and then attempted a brute force leverage attack with a metal pipe."
Rather than cutting the lock, the thieves resorted to brute force, using a metal pipe in an effort to overpower the security device. However, their efforts proved unsuccessful.

The LITELOK X3 is engineered to withstand the kinds of attacks commonly used by motorcycle thieves. At its core is Barronium®, a patented composite material designed to resist angle grinder attacks by redirecting the grinder’s energy and force back into the cutting process itself.
The X3 delivers at least 20 times more resistance than best-selling D-locks while maintaining a practical weight for everyday use. This protective layer is permanently fused to a hardened fine-grain high-tensile steel core, providing resistance against a wide range of attack methods, including bolt croppers, cable cutters, long bars, hammers, chisels, and even -40°C freeze spray.
In Emma’s case, the thieves were unable to defeat the lock and instead relied on physical leverage and force alone, an approach that ultimately failed.
The attempted theft was only discovered because Emma’s tracker alerted her to unexpected movement. By the time she confronted the thieves, the LITELOK X3 was still holding firm.
"Tracker alerted me to bike's movement, lock held while I confronted them, with only brake disc indents in outer casing. Only damage to bike at this stage seems to be a busted caliper bleed nipple that drained brake fluid, and misaligned handlebars”
While the motorcycle suffered some minor damage during the attempted theft, the lock prevented what could have been the loss of the entire bike.
Security products are often judged by how they perform in real-world situations, and Emma’s experience highlights exactly why robust motorcycle protection matters. Faced with thieves willing to move the bike, relocate it, and launch a sustained leverage attack, the LITELOK X3 remained intact and continued to secure the motorcycle until Emma was able to intervene.
For Emma, the result was clear: some minor repairs were needed, but her Yamaha XJ6 stayed exactly where it belonged.
