LITELOK X1 Saves E-Bike in Dublin #85

Conor reached out to us to share how his LITELOK X1 stopped an attempted theft of his prized Cube E-Bike outside Tara Street station in Dublin.

"My bike was locked up with only the X1 at a bike stand outside Tara Street station in Dublin. I left it am there at about 6:30 September 1st and went to the Dublin Zen Centre. I stayed in town until about 1130 and when I made it back to my bike I didn’t notice anything out of place. I proceeded to put my jacket and helmet on and went to unlock my bike when I noticed the damage to the lock. There was no other sign of any damage."

In busy urban areas, bike thieves are always on the lookout. Many of them watch routines, noticing where bikes are regularly locked, what time they’re left, and how long they’re unattended. Places like train stations, gyms, and city centres are often targeted because thieves know riders may be away for hours at a time.

"The bike is a Cube E-bike worth about 3,000 euro that’s only 8 months old. It is my primary mode of travel. To have lost it would have been a big burden as we just had our first baby so can’t exactly take on the cost of new e-bike.

The X1 has given me peace of mind since I bought it but for it to have actually stopped a theft is great. I’ve already bought a new one and will be pairing it going forward with a Litelok One that I have from my old bike just to hopefully deter any future attempts.”

When it comes to protecting your bike, one lock is good, but two is even better. Bike thieves are opportunistic. They want to get in and out quickly, often carrying only one or two tools to target a single type of lock. By using multiple locks, you make their job far more difficult, time-consuming, and noisy, all things thieves want to avoid.
