Every. Day. Ride #33 with Roberto

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m Roberto Dazzo, class 1979. I live in Italy very close to Venice in a beautiful area called Riviera del Brenta.

I have 2 children, two dogs and a bunch of bikes! Biking is a very special think for me. Not a profession (I’m Hotelier), but a very important part of my life.

How and when did you get into riding?

I've been riding bikes since I was a very young kid. And I’ve always used it to go around since then.

It started to become a passion thanks to a friend of mine (thank you Filippo!!!) who took me on a MTB ride many years ago in Colli Euganei. It has been a lucky casualty.

What are the best and worst things about riding?

I don’t think there is anything bad about cycling, aside the fact that you would like to have much more time to dedicate to it! The best part is the sense of freedom that you get on the saddle. In a car you don’t realise that the temperature changes every 20 meters. The scent changes every 20 meters. The noise change every 20 meters. You really feel part of the environment.

Tell us about your most memorable ride to date?

There’s not a specific one in particular. I have many great memories of many different rides. In all of them I was sharing the moment with one (or more) friends. I think that’s the key.

What’s the best piece of riding advice you’ve ever been given?

Just ride! Any bike. Any day. Any weather.

How do you keep your bikes secure at home and on the go?

Bikes are a target not only if they are expensive. Even a very cheap one is a little treasure because of its memory and because it can still take you somewhere. So keeping them safe is very important for me. I really like my LITELOK CORE PLUS!!! It’s VERY safe, sturdy, with a trendy look and very easy to carry with you despite the weight (yes, it’s not light!).

Share your best tips to help others keep their bikes safe?

Don’t share the initial/final point of your rides on Strava. Keep them locked and, whenever possible, keep them inside.

What’s on your riding bucket list?

I never had the chance to spend few days on the Dolomites just biking. Isn’t it incredible considering how close I live to them? That’s something I really want to do not too far in the future.
