BLAYDON CYCLE CLUB x LITELOK

BLAYDON CYCLE CLUB x LITELOK

Blaydon Cycle Club is organising a women-only cycling time trial on 26 June 2026 in support of Newcastle Women's Aid, a charity which supports the female victims of domestic abuse.

The event which will take place in Stamfordham, Northumberland has already attracted 115 entries, a number that has left the organisers stunned.

It’s inspiring to see cycling clubs empowering women through cycling, and we wanted to show our support in a small way by donating a LITELOK to their raffle to help raise funds for the cause.

It is the brainchild of Alistair McLean,

"I've been involved with time trialling locally for 7 or 8 years and in that time, I think the most female participants we've had in any event is 21 so this women-only event has certainly captured the imagination. We always saw it as a great way to celebrate female enforcement through cycling while supporting a very, very deserving cause.

I met with the charity in January and came away absolutely determined to support it to the fullest extent possible. I think that few people are aware of the extent to which domestic abuse is widespread and its victims need all the support they can get. As a 63-year old man, I came away feeling pretty saddened and humbled, but resolved to do something positive about it.

We weren't quite prepared for this level of response however, and we're certainly going to need a few more sandwiches than we'd envisaged for the post-race buffet!

We are incredibly grateful to Litelok for supporting the event. Their contribution will go into the on-the-day raffle and help us raise even more funds for Newcastle Women's Aid.
