As bike thefts continue to rise across the UK, riders are increasingly looking for security they can trust when leaving bikes unattended overnight. In Wales, where LITELOK was founded and continues to operate, reports of angle grinder attacks and organised motorcycle thefts have become an increasing concern for riders and communities alike. For Alexey, a recent trip through Wales became a real-world demonstration of exactly why high-security protection matters.
The theft attempt took place overnight between May 23rd and 24th in Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, on the private parking lot of the Tredegar Arms Hotel. The parking area was small and open, making access easy for anyone approaching parked vehicles.
Alexey’s 2025 Honda NX500 valued at approximately £8,000, with an additional £500 in accessories was secured using only a single LITELOK X3 mounted through both front brake discs.
By morning, signs of repeated attack attempts surrounded the bike.
“Hello, I just want to thank you for your great products! I have X3 and today it defended my beloved bike for the whole night against a portable grinder in hand of some mischiefs.”
According to Alexey, thieves made four separate attempts to defeat the lock: one cutter attack and three separate grinder attacks.
“Your lock paid itself over multiple times. There was 4 attempts: 1 cutter - I found pesky pieces around, and 3 grinders.”
The final grinder attempt caused visible damage to the lock, but the X3 continued to hold.
“The last one did a lot of damage, but still only shallow cuts through.”
Photos shared afterward showed multiple marks and attempted cuts on the protective outer layer, including two particularly deeper cuts, one on the shackle, another on the lock body. Despite sustained attacks with power tools, the lock never failed.

“There were many other attempts to steal my bike and they left plenty of marks on the protective cover, but only the last one: two deep cuts, one on the C-bar and another on lock bar, was able to do any kind of structural damage.”

For Alexey, the outcome meant more than protecting a motorcycle. Losing the bike during a road trip through Wales would have completely disrupted the journey.
“It was during my trip to Wales, so being stranded without a bike there would be a total nightmare!”
Motorcycle theft attempts are increasingly aggressive, with portable angle grinders becoming a common tool used by thieves. Stories like Alexey’s demonstrate why high-security motorcycle locks need to do more than simply slow thieves down, they need to withstand determined, repeated attacks long enough to protect the bike.
In this case, one LITELOK X3 prevented the theft of a nearly new Honda NX500 despite multiple overnight attempts.
“Really, just want to say thank you and that every time there's a person who needs an advice on which lock to buy, the only right answer is: yours!”
