LITELOK X3 Saves £27,000 BMW Motorcycle in Bordeaux #76

At LITELOK, nothing makes us prouder than hearing that our locks have stopped thieves in their tracks. Recently, customer Brendan shared a powerful story about how his LITELOK X3 protected his prized motorcycle from a serious theft attempt – and we’re so glad to share it with you.

“Great lock.
I bought this lock to replace a previous lock I bought from Litelok that was damaged in an attempted theft whilst I was in Bordeaux. The would-be thieves tried to cut off the lock but gave up after getting 3/4 of the way through one side. I guess they ran out of blades or battery! It saved my new BMW R1300GSA from being stolen and a complicated replacement process with the insurance.” - Brendan

On the morning of 29/06/25 at 6am, Brendan’s BMW R1300GSA, worth £27,000, was locked up in a secure basement carpark. It was protected with the Litelok X3 looped through the rear spokes and a disc lock. Sadly, thieves broke the steering lock and cut straight through the cheap disc lock – but when they turned their attention to the X3, it was a different story.

Brendan explained:

“The bike was locked up in a secure basement carpark, the tracker alerted me to motion detection, but it was an hour later by the time I got to the bike as my phone was on silent the thieves had gone but the bike was still there with the disc lock cut off and the steering lock broken.”

The X3 Stood Its Ground

The thieves managed to cut three-quarters of the way through one side of the X3 before abandoning their attempt. The bike was still there when Brendan returned, with the X3 damaged but unbroken.

To steal the bike, the thieves would have needed to finish cutting through one side completely and then make a second cut – requiring far more time, additional cutting discs, and extra battery power for their angle grinder.
