LITELOK X1 Saves £7000 KTM Motorcycle in Scunthorpe #100

Jake recently reached out to share his experience of an attempted theft of his £7,000 KTM motorcycle in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

"It happened in Scunthorpe at the Royal inn hotel 3/11/25 at around 11:50pm"

Hotels are well-known hotspots for motorcycle theft, largely because travellers often leave their bikes parked overnight in predictable spots. While many car parks have CCTV coverage, they’re frequently dimly lit or poorly monitored, creating ideal conditions for thieves.

"The value of the bike was £7000 and it’s a KTM 799 ADV R. I was staying in a hotel for the night and 4 guys came and tried to cut it with an angle grinder they were not able to cut the lock"

Jake's story is a powerful reminder that security isn't just about peace of mind, it's about real protection when it matters most. The LITELOK X1 did exactly what it was designed to do: stop angle grinder attacks long enough to save the bike.

"Myself and the hotel staff managed to scare them away."

The would-be thieves only managed to damage a small section of the lock’s rubber coating. Jake also had another branded lock on his KTM, which suffered a deeper cut — it’s likely that at least two of the thieves were cutting simultaneously.

This highlights the importance of multiple layers of security when locking your bike. Our LITELOK bundles are specifically designed to provide that added protection.

As the use of angle grinders in motorcycle thefts becomes more common, we recommend securing your bike with at least one lock that is resistant to angle grinders and holds a Sold Secure Diamond rating. You can view our LITELOK X Range here
